Foam Rolling & Massage Ball Workshop

Runners, cyclists, athletes, gym users: recovery following training is important, and a foam roller can help you.Never used a foam roller, or don’t know how it can benefit you. Or do you have a foam roller but not sure how to maximise the use of it for injury prevention and exercise recovery? Perhaps you work popular areas such as the quadriceps and ilio-tibial band (ITB) but would like to know how to target your other problem areas. The roller can also be used for core stability training. The 90 minute workshop will provide education and practical experience on to use of this effective piece of equipment and look at some of the current research around it.

You will also receive handouts with images that you can refer to following the session. Foam rolling is especially beneficial to athletes and cyclists involved in regular training and/or racing to enhance recovery and improve tissue condition.

The Focus of Clinical Pilates

Clinical pilates focuses on the quality of movement patterns not quantity, along side postural correction. It is a total mind-body conditioning exercise program which can improve general fitness, and well being. It is based on creating a stable core by activating the pelvic floor, deep abdominal and spinal muscles. A stable core is essential for maintaining correct postures, and good control and balance of the body to prevent the risk on injury.

Pilates is suitable for both men and women of all ages and and is particularly beneficial for those with back pain, poor postures, joint pain, sports injuries, arthritis, stress related illness and before and after pregnancy. 

The NHS and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guidelines now recommends exercise in the management of lower back pain.Sessions should include: aerobic activity, movement instruction, muscle strengthening, postural control and stretching, all of which are included in a clinical pilates class.

Classes are delivered fully certified APPI pilates instructors and experienced graduate Sports and Rehabilitation Therapists. Our classes are deliberately kept small so that individual client receives hands-on attention and each client is closely monitored for exercise correction. Furthermore exercises can be tailored to address specific injury requirements and/or specific sporting needs.
